I forgot how exhausting working full time can be. Add on top of it, I'm no longer in a small studio apartment but a house with a yard, and a toddler... Y'all I am tired.
But I must admit, in pretty good spirits. Perhaps because I'm so busy getting through life that I don't have the spoons to engage with *gestures at everything* all of that. Although there's no hiding from it really when you're an American.

Earlier this week I had a check-in with a colleague in Minneapolis. I couldn't help but think of the juxtaposition of our two realities. The monks doing the Peace Walk had recently been through my area. Meanwhile, this U.S born person is carrying around their passport when they go out. It feels a dystopian in a hunger games sort of way, I live in a place the President favors, so things stay relatively calm. That doesn't feel like the America I was promised as a kid. Believe it or not, this Black girl honestly didn't expect the level of division and intimidation in the 2020s. Growing up in the 90s, it really felt like things were getting better. And I thought that after the last war, we had learned to leave well enough along. That surely our era of colonialism was over.

Sometimes I feel guilty that I'm glad I'm too busy to think about it very much

Work has had me busy, Tableau is making feel, well less than tech-savvy. (Why do you have to download a new version of Tableau every time it updates? Are patches not a thing anymore?)

I finished up "Darkstalker" from the Wings of Fire Legends series by Tui Sutherland. It was really good, exploring the journey of the mindset of a would-be villain's consumption with power. I thought the epilogue was a little hokey but when I really think about it, I guess it was an obvious choice for the author.

Now I'm back to the original series on book 3 "The hidden kingdom", the books have been out awhile but I don't want to give spoilers. I'll just say that I feel for Glory.

There's word it might snow Sunday, we shall see.
