WIP Wednesday #2

 Yes, I'm posting this on Thursday. Yesterday turned out to be a weird day. 

Flax Worsted - Y'all, sleeve island has happened to me! I really thought I was above that. Silly me. The second sleeve is a bit bigger than the first one for reasons I'm not entirely sure of. There are 2 extra stitches but I think it's mostly a gauge thing.  Perhaps this means that when I start my next sweater, I need to do two at a time sleeves so the gauge isn't so off between the two? I want to finish this sweater in the next few days and I should be able to now I'm finished with the test crochet. 

 

Lace Kerchief - Started this on Tuesday with the leftover yarn from the Wheat and Lace Legwarmers. This is my first successful knitted lace project. I must confess that so far the pattern is not easy for me to remember so I the row counter and the pattern has been essential. I also kinda wish it had a chart because reading the words has gotten me a little mixed up. But it's such a small pattern, I'm far too lazy to draw a chart.  It's interesting to see how far apart the darker speckles appear in a knitted fabric versus the crocheted fabric

The pattern calls for it to be about 10 inches but, I think I'm going to go for about 12 so it would work for what I'm comfortable wearing to Church. (I'm Orthodox, and like Muslims, not all Orthodox women cover their heads. Unlike Muslims, most of us only do it at Church not all the time)









Chevron Lace Cardigan - I didn't work on this at all in January. Maybe it was the colder than normal temperatures that dissuaded me. After our 70 degree Christmas, I thought there was a possibly I could wear this kinda soon. But the forecast is leaning more towards the "March through October" rather than "October through March" edict I tried to ascribe to my garments, I haven't felt super motivated to work on this warm weather garment. However,  my plan is to finish it next month. 

... maybe I do have a problem with "sleeve island" after all. 

 

 






 

Flipdana - Okay, I haven't done a whole lot on this. I had one day where I had to redo the Wheat and Lace test crochet and needed a break. So I brought it out with me when I had a beer.

I am in awe -- I ran some test knits of lace for my mom's scarf project and wow, it is a lot of counting and I can't "read" the knitting very well. I am going to have to try again in a larger, lighter-colored yarn that is easier for me to see the stitch details. I want to be able to lace, but... oof, it's harder than I thought.

Thanks, this required so many re-dos for me... I think it's why I made that chunky hat, the legwarmers had to go into time out for a bit. Same, I love the look of lace, but goodness me it is definitely not "tv watching" crafting for me just yet.
