Deleted my reddit today
May. 5th, 2026 03:54 pmI'm calling this a win.
Part of the reason why I 'lose' allot of time during the day is wasting away on discussion and arguments on reddit. Yes, I recognize that's a waste of time. I think, it's part of working from home and spending so much time as the only adult in my life. Sometimes I do miss those chats and things.
I've wanted to delete my account for awhile but I kept running into roadblocks and so my ADHD said 'oh we can put it off'.
I try not to be too obvious about my race on reddit because I've had racist attacks and stereotypes before, but I got a little tired of people arguing with me about what they heard from Black and Asian people. Especially when I would clearly say, from my perspective or my experience. I'm not the local Blasian rep. I can only speak to what I know.
And I was getting annoyed at the time I wasted saying how much I despise AI infiltrating my yarn hobbies. So today, I stuck it out and got it done!
It wasn't easy. I had to:
- disconnect my google account
- use the forgot password feature to set a password
- go to the old reddit site under deactivate, in a new browser (I tried clearing my cache and it just wouldn't stick)
- my username I promise you it changed slightly with an extra underscore, so had to figure that out.
- finally delete my account!

Date: 2026-05-06 03:25 pm (UTC)How is AI infiltrating yarn hobbies? I am apparently too old to be able to tell it's AI or completely out of the loop...

Date: 2026-05-07 04:00 am (UTC)There's allot of patterns on etsy that use AI, ai pictures of (mostly) crochet objects with beginners asking how they can make them when it's (I think) pretty obvious those stitches are impossible. And then some companies and indie dyers using AI for 'inspiration' and social media. It's basically complained about daily in craftsnark reddit and I was getting stuck in a doom loop.
